Dr Hallo Askari is currently the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) advisor for the Ministry of Natural Resources. He was born in the city of Sulemani in Kurdistan, and is a descendant from a prominent and patriotic Kurdish family. He obtained BSc in Horticulture Science from University of Baghdad, Iraq. He attained MSc and PhD in environmental pollution science from Brunel University in the UK. He worked as an Environmental Consultant for Hopeman Associates Ltd (for UK Environment-Agency) in the UK. More recently, after coming back to Kurdistan, he worked as an advisor for HE Prime Minister of Kurdistan Regional Government for environmental issues; he supervised and headed many environmental and non-environmental committees and campaigns during his post. He was a member of the committee for writing the draft for the ‘law of the protection of water resources in Kurdistan’. He gained several certificates in oil and gas, health and safety and environment fields during his career.
